Zoë Rosenfield (Chair)

Zoë has been involved in supporting refugees and people seeking asylum through the Migrant English Project and in addition supported young asylum seeking women at the Refugee Integration Support Project.

Mary-Jane Burkett (Vice-chair)

Mary-Jane Burkett is the co-ordinator of Brighton Voices In Exile; an ecumenical project based at the Chapel Royal. Through the project accompaniment, emotional, welfare and advocacy support are offered to people who are seeking or have been refused asylum, and refugees. Previously she has worked with unaccompanied minors, trafficked young people, people in detention and carried out accompaniment work within the West Bank.

Tony Greenstein (Secretary)

An active campaigner for the rights of asylum seekers and refugees. Based at Brighton and Hove Unemployed Workers Centre in Hollingdean. He has been supporting people seeking asylum for many years, helping them find support through the Committee to Defend Asylum Seekers.

Cllr Francis Tonks

Cllr. Francis Tonks is currently serving on Brighton & Hove City Council for the Moulscomb and Bevendean areas of Brighton. He is also the Vice-Chair of Falmer High School as well as being a former Mayor of Brighton & Hove. Having represented some of the most deprived areas within the City, Cllr Tonks has always campaigned on behalf of housing, welfare and community issues. He represents the council on the UN Association Executive.

Sue Shaw

Sue spent 3 years supporting unaccompanied minors in the Brighton and Hove area, offering support and advice.

Shanti Haft

Is an active member of the Committee to Defend Asylum Seekers in Brighton and Hove. She has supported people in accessing financial support and accommodation.

Bill North is the General Sea of Brighton & Hove Trades Council as well as being a lecturer in Biology at Brighton and Hove City College.
